Abstract

Antimicrobial peptide as natural peptides is very divergent group of natural protein found in animal, plant, and insects as well as in bacteria. These types of peptides are responsible for enhancing the shelf-life, best alternate of chemical preservatives and work against antibiotic resistant bacteria in food and pharmaceutical industries also best alternate of chemical preservatives, also significant in defence of host pathogenic organisms. Antimicrobial peptides used either alone or along with other essential oils and polymeric nano-particles combination enhancing more activities of peptides. This review presents the different sources of antimicrobial peptides or different type of sources. Hence, it will be widely used in food industries as well as pharmaceutical industries.
