Effect of Pilates Exercises, Yogic Practices and Combined Pilates Exercises and Yogic Practices on Hip Flexibility among School Students

Abstract

Aim of the study was to determine the effect of Pilates exercises, yogic practices and combined Pilates exercises and yogic practices on hip flexibility among School students.  To achieve the purpose sixty(N=60) girls school subjects studying various schools in Pudukkottai, Tamilnadu India were selected. Their age were ranged between 18-21 years. Three experimental groups and one control groups were equally assigned as fifteen each namely Pilates exercises (PE), yogic practices (YP), combined Pilates exercises and yogic practices (CPEYP) and control group (CG). Experimental groups underwent their respective training for 3 days per week for totally 12 weeks duration. Hip flexibility was taken for this study and it was measured through sit and reach test. The pre and post assessment developments in the groups were analyze with t-test and analysis of Covariance. The Scheffe’s post hoc test was also calculated for pair wise comparisons. For all cases 0.05 level of confidence was fixed. The result of the study showed that there was a significant difference among all the experimental groups in the increase of hip flexibility.
