Abstract

APIUM GRAVEOLEN, a yearly or bi-bionomic herbaceous species from Mediterranean areas as Asia, Africa and Europe, belonging to the apiaceae family. Apium graveolens has significant ayurvedic qualities as an important herb. Antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodium, antibactérian, antifungal, cancer and diuretic and sedative actions are included in the treatment qualities of Apium gravesolen. Graveolens Apium is utilised for its pleasant food taste as salt and in salads. Apium graveolens does not need a high temperature but comparably high humidity. Accordingly, the cool temperature and temperate areas provide the greatest product. The present article examines the potential for anti-hyperlipidemics in phytochemicals and pharmacological actions. Air, cardiovascular, dental, skin, digestive and urinary problems have been proven to be beneficial. But it would be appreciated to validate scientifically many other traditional uses especially to identify and authenticate new bioactive substances. This page contains extensive information on the relevance of apium graveolen's different extracts of solvents for botany, phytochemistry, pharmacology and nutrition. This article permits researchers to investigate further the potential for several biological uses of this multi-use plant.
