Abstract

Film festivals are a destination for filmmakers, actors, writers, critics, and those interested in the seventh art, to get rich from its experiences. It has become a cultural phenomenon in which ideas, opinions and perceptions are cross-pollinated, and a source of growth and expansion for various societal cultures. The holding of these festivals will be accompanied by the issuance of specific linguistic publications within the festival, some of which focus on the identity of the festival, some of which play an informative role about the festival and its activities, and some explain the mechanism of its organization in order for these publications to contribute to adding an atmosphere of luxury, sophistication, and artistic, intellectual and cultural saturation. The researcher believes that there is a special importance in the design of the printed festival poster and its formal structure, which tries to perform multiple functions between informational, advertising, promotional and communication, and directs an intellectual discourse with its meanings, ideas and connotations that are mixed in a design work intended to play the chord of beauty. It is the first graphic portal that the recipient touches to obtain the semantic meanings of the festival, its identity and the object of the year. What was the motivation generated by the researcher to stand up for it and subject it to study by raising the following question: What are the Formal structure outcomes in the designs of AL Nahj International Film Festival posters?

The researcher also defined his research with objective, temporal and spatial limits that included the posters of the Al-Nahj Film Festival issued by the Karbala satellite channel group for the period from (2015-2019), which were shown in the five seasons of the festival held in the holy city of Karbala, referring to the definition of some terms related to the research topic and their clarification in language, convention and procedure.

It also included the theoretical framework divided into two topics: The first topic: (Structure - General Introduction). The second topic also covered: The formal structure in design. Then the theoretical framework indicators were extracted.

And it was determined in the research methodology was identified using the descriptive method of analyzing sample models, which were 60% From the research community, which is identified as (3) posters that represented the sample description and analysis. The researcher reviewed the results and conclusions, the most important of which were:

  1. The formal structure of the Al-Nahj Film Festival posters achieved the intentional level, as this level was partially achieved in Model (2) and completely in the rest of the models.

  2. The lack of focus on the systemic aspects of the design process led to the partial achievement of the level of coordination in the formal structure of the Al-Nahj International Film Festival posters, which constitutes a defect in one of its main pillars.

To conclude his research with recommendations, proposals and a list of sources.
