Abstract
This study was performed to evaluate the wound healing activity of Indian medicinal plant Homaliumzeylanicumbenth .The leaves and bark of plant were extracted with petroleum ether, ethyl acetate and ethanolic solvents. The ethyl acetate and ethanolic solvents were evaluated for wound healing activity. The cytotoxicity assay of plant extracts were carried out against 3T3 mouse fibroblast cells and IC50 of the tested ethyl acetate and ethanolic extracts of bark and leaf was calculated. The cytotoxicity effect was observed in tested sample concentration in 48, and all tested concentration of test samples shown less cytotoxicity over tested cell line. The migration rates of 3T3 mouse fibroblast cells were assessed by Scratch assay method. The cell migration was observed and showed 94.43% of migration in leaf extracts and 90.57% migration in bark extract. This study indicates that leaves and bark of plant contain variety of compound bring to wound healing activity and based on cell migration study ethyl acetate extract of plant might be a potential therapeutic agent for wound healing, supporting its traditional medicinal uses.
