A Special Study of Cross-reference in Tholkappiyam

Abstract

Even though there have been numerous researchers who have researched Tholkappiyam in great detail, it still has a large area which needs more research. One such area is cross-referencing. Even before cross-referencing techniques were used in reference books, they were used in Tholkappiyam. There has been a lot of research in Tamil Etymology and linguistics from Tholkappiyam. But there is no existing research in the cross-referencing techniques used in Tholkappiyam. This essay presents an analysis of the cross-referencing techniques used throughout Tholkappiyam. The aim of this research is to prove that cross-referencing techniques have their origins in Tholkappiyam.
